Wedding photography is not for the faint of heart. It is a constant juggle of loving couples, gushing parents, drunken guests, set designs, and perfect shots, and those of us with a passion for the craft wouldn’t have it any other way.
Because, amidst all the stress and strain of a big day shoot, we get to see the love, joy, and admiration that the couple, their families, and friends all have for one another and, hey, we get to partake in some pretty awesome parties, too!
But this is a complex job, and one that shouldn’t be left to your Aunt Sally, who is recently very enthusiastic about photography but doesn’t quite have the skill set to produce your ultimate special day memento.
With this in mind, here are a few reasons why this complex job should always be left to the experts:
1. There is so much to prepare
The best wedding photographer will always prepare everything for the finest art.
From organizing the getting-ready shots to set design, to knowing the best natural lighting in the ceremony’s location, this is a truly artistic job that takes years of experience to refine any natural talent.
It is like a painter preparing their canvas, paints, brushes, etc. The only difference is that we have to prepare an entire special day shoot and then transform that into an incredible album that the happy couple will cherish forever!
Naturally, this takes a lot of passion and preparation – we take our work very seriously and work closely with the bride and groom to ensure that they are happy with our plans, as this is part of ensuring the perfect shoot on this most momentous of occasions.
2. You have to manage 10 things at once
Is the set design ready? Where is the best man? Has the lighting arrived? Are we all set for the reception? The wedding photographer’s mind is one that has to be omniscient, in 10 places at once, thinking concurrently with everything they are doing now and in the future.
The endless multitask is what makes this job incredibly complex and incredibly rewarding. There is a fine art to ensuring that everything is mise en scene, to ensure that everyone is ready for the shoot and that no one is being left out, it’s part of the fun and fulfillment that comes with this wonderful role.
3. You have to have immaculate editing skills
A large portion of what we do is in the editing room. Sure, you’ll see us roaming the party, taking photos of this special day, and ensuring that everyone is well-prepared for their special parts, but the real work begins when we get back to the editor’s desk.
There is a lot of work that goes into ensuring we produce the most fabulous, unforgettable memento as we are well aware that it is one of the most important keepsakes from the special day.
As such, you can be sure that we put hours upon hours of work into ensuring that your album is perfect for you and truly encapsulates the joy and love that was felt on this most miraculous of occasions.
As you can see, this job isn’t for everyone, and that is why people leave it to the pros on nine times out of 10 bases.
There is a knack, a flare, and a joy for taking stunning imagery that a special couple can keep with them forever – the pros are here to do that on your behalf!
